Birth Registration Appointments
- It is a legal requirement to register a birth within 42 days of your baby being born.
- You will need a birth certificate when applying for any benefits related to the birth of a child or opening a bank account.
Death Registration Appointments
- Appointments to register a death can only be made when the Medical Examiner or the Coroner has advised you to book an appointment.
- Death registrations must be completed within five days from being advised by the Medical Examiner or the Coroner. You cannot book an appointment until you have received a code from the Medical Examiner or Coroners Office.
Notice Appointments
- Once you have booked your ceremony venue and registrars, you are required to give notice of marriage or civil partnership. This must be within 12 months of your ceremony date. We advise that you complete this between 6 and 9 months prior to the ceremony.
Please note: You must book your notice appointment as soon as possible, as it is unlikely that an appointment will be available within 4 to 6 weeks.
By law, you must both give notice:
No later than 29 days before your ceremony date, or
71 days before your ceremony date if either of you is subject to immigration control.
This notice period is required to obtain legal clearance for your ceremony to proceed.
If notice is not given within the required timeframe, your ceremony will not be able to take place on the date you have chosen.
Please note: we do not allow walk-in appointments.
